Water Service Regulations

 

WATER SERVICE REGULATIONS

 

1.                  All water meter service sizing, installation, connection, and location shall be per North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Public Water Supply Section (NCDENR­PWSS) and Village of Chimney Rock design standards.

 

2.                 Residential water meter service shall be one (1) 3/4" X 5/8" water meter service per lot/unit/dwelling.

 

3.                  Multi-family residential units shall require individual meter connections, with one3/4" X 5/8" meter service per dwelling unit. Master metering of such units shall be at the discretion of the Village.

 

4.                 Commercial/nonresidential or master meters for multi-family water meter services shall be sized by the Village based on requested water consumption and/or the above stated design standards.

 

5.                 Water service billing will commence upon installation of requested water meter service, regardless of use.

 

6.                  All service connections to the Village water system shall be performed by a utility contractor licensed in the state of North Carolina . All costs associated with connection to the Village system shall be paid by the applicant, in addition to the scheduled tap fee for each meter size.

 

7.                  Water line extensions, as determined by the Village and per the above design standards, shall be applied for separately through the Village and NCDENR, PWSS and are not defined as water meter services.

 

8.                  The Village reserves the right to suspend or terminate water service at any time, without refund of any fees, charges, etc. should water service fees not be paid in a timely manner or abuse of Village water system policies is determined.

 

             ·8.       Upon receipt of all necessary fees and applications, written notice shall be given by Village

 

Officials prior to any connection to Village water system or installation of water meter service. All water meters shall be installed, removed, and otherwise maintained Village appointed personnel. The Village system win terminate at the backside connection of the water meter service; any lines, valves, and appurtenances beyond the backside of the water meter service shall be the responsibility of the water system customer and/or property owner.
